Orléans is situated in the Loiret and in the Centre region.
The city is part of a group of municipalities called Agglomération Orléans Val de Loire, also called Agglo.
The town represents 22 municipalities for a total of 275 000 inhabitants.
Orléans is located in the northern elbow of the Loire, which is crossing from East to West. Orléans belongs to the Loire valley situated between Sully sur Loire and Chalonnes sur Loire, which has been approved in 2000 by the UNESCO for the World Heritage.
